Metal detecting is a good way to find treasure and helps you get outside to spend time in nature. But if you're looking for a new hobby and potentially some money along the way, why not pick up a metal detector?
One man couldn't believe his luck after taking his tool out with him to a field. After spending six years trying to find some gold in the dirt, he was gobsmacked to locate something rather incredible. As a result, he had to share his discovery on TikTok, under the handle @getinhammereduk, where he boasts a whopping 2,800 followers online.
He told fans "it's finally happened" after dedicating six years of his life to metal detecting.

In a post which racked up over 940 likes and dozens of comments, he said in shock: "I think I've just had a gold stater, oh my God I actually can't believe it."
The TikTok user, who revealed he "digs up England's history and treasure in his bio," cleaned up his discovery and was floored by what it really was.
He added: "Let me clean this one up... Absolutely unbelievable what I've just had here.
"It's the first time I've stepped foot on this field. Oh my actual God, look at that little beauty. Come on!"
Concluding his video, he continued: "This is why you gotta get into metal detecting, this is what it's all about guys.
"Come on you beauty let's go."
His caption read: "I found my first gold stater," and it didn't take long for TikTok users to flood the comments section.
One wrote: "Congratulations! Must've been a lot of walking to get that. What a find!" Another added: "Been detecting since 1992, still no gold from the fields only a few rings from beaches, great find."
A third commented: "The details on that coin are so cool." Responding to some comments, the TikTok user claimed it took "many steps" and plenty of holes were dug in order to find that beauty.
He also inspired other users who claimed it's taken them years to find anything.
A gold stater's value varies significantly, but Celtic gold staters could range from a few hundred pounds to several thousand for common examples, while rare or exceptionally well-preserved coins can be worth £3,000 and upwards.
The final value depends on factors like the coin's specific type, condition, rarity, and the size of the collector base.
Metal detecting is easy to learn but can be difficult to master. While it's suitable for beginners, it does comes with its challenges even for experienced users.
While it can take some people months to make a discovery, others are waiting years, if not decades, for their first find.
It's worth nothing, successfully identifying and finding valuable targets through any bit of junk requires skill and experience, which are hard to acquire.
